Notes about our Week

•We played sorting games to see how we could sort buttons and socks.

•We began to make airplanes in a variety of ways at the creative centre and built airports at the block centre.

•We read stories about feelings that belong to the green and blue zones of regulation.  We talked about how when we are in the green zone we can listen, do our best work and try new things.  When talked about strategies for when we are in the blue zone such as visiting the relaxation station, talking to an adult or asking for a hug.

•We discovered many crickets and grasshoppers outside and made comparisons.

•We read “Alphabet Rescue” and then “rescued” letters from the Kindergarten Play area.

•We made an alphabet book of the students in our class.

•We searched our outdoor area for things that started with each sound of the alphabet.  We have almost found something for each letter.

How you can support your child’s learning

•You child can practice their sorting skills by helping with household chores such as sorting laundry, matching socks, unloading the dishwasher and putting items that are similar together in the cupboard.

•Go on an alphabet hunt around your yard, house or neighbourhood and see how many letters you can find items for.  You could even take a picture so your child can share their findings with the class.

Important Information

•We have a child in our class with a severe nut allergy.  (There are also several teachers and students in our school who have nut allergies).  Please ensure that you are sending nut free foods to school.  If your child consumes nuts, peanuts or peanut butter before coming to school, please ensure that they have brushed their teeth and washed their hands and face before coming to school.  “Wow Butter” and peanut butter alternatives will be not be permitted in the classroom.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping school a safe place for all children.
