Notes about our week

•We converted the dramatic play area into a salon where you can get your hair, nails and makeup done.  They have been using the creative centre to make things to add to this centre.  It has been a very popular spot!

•We used marbles to paint and experimented to how different sizes of marbles work.

•We learned about how we can use different types of lines to create art and created hearts with various types of lines.

•We made our own text messages by writing messages to others on cell phone paper.

•We used a variety of building materials to build a castle for Ana and Elsa.

•We created chain reactions with Kapla blocks.

•We continued to read books and discuss kindness.  Thank you to the children who brought in their own favourite kindness books to share with the class.

•We began learning our high-frequency word song.  Ask your child if they can sing them to you.

How you can support your child’s learning

•Use the materials in your house such as Lego, blocks, recycling to build. Ask your child to make a plan and then work with them to achieve what they set out to do.

•Help your child make Valentines for their classmates.  Click on the link Valentine’s List 2020 for a list of the children’s name and suggestions for how you can make Valentine’s day a learning opportunity for your child.  A hard copy of this information will come home in your child’s mailbag on Monday.  Please do not feel the need to send in anything extra with your valentines.

Important Information

•We have a child in our class with a severe nut allergy.  (There are also several teachers and students in our school who have nut allergies).  Please ensure that you are sending nut free foods to school.  If your child consumes nuts, peanuts or peanut butter before coming to school, please ensure that they have brushed their teeth and washed their hands and face before coming to school.  “Wow Butter” and peanut butter alternatives will be not be permitted in the classroom.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping school a safe place for all children.
