Notes about our Week

•We enjoyed the snow while playing outdoors.  We explored marker and how they can be used to colour snow.

•We learned how to make and build with snow “rocks”.

•We continued our learning about shapes.  We read stories about shapes and began making shape pictures with pattern blocks and paper.

•We created our own dances and performed them at the dramatic play centre.

•We began reading “The Three Little Pigs” stories.  We will continue to read and compare different versions of this classic tale.

•We finished construction of our box houses.

•We began testing other building materials to see what would be the strongest and stand up to the power of a blow dryer.

How you can support your child’s learning

•Go for a walk with your child in your neighbourhood and see how many shapes that they can find.

•Please have your child read their Stinger reader to you each night.  Frequent reading will help your child become familiar with high-frequency words.

•Please remember to send your child’s Library and Stinger Reader bag to school every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so they can participate in book exchanges.

Important Information

•We love volunteers!  If you are interested in volunteering in the classroom, we would love to have a volunteer from 12-1:30 to read and play games with the children.  Please send an email if you are able and make sure that you have a valid police check that has been sent into the school office.

•We have a child in our class with a severe nut allergy.  (There are also several teachers and students in our school who have nut allergies).  Please ensure that you are sending nut free foods to school.  If your child consumes nuts, peanuts or peanut butter before coming to school, please ensure that they have brushed their teeth and washed their hands and face before coming to school.  “Wow Butter” and peanut butter alternatives will be not be permitted in the classroom.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping school a safe place for all children.
