Notes about our week…

•We began making creatures for a 3-D ocean that we are making.

•We are learning about procedural writing.  We are thinking about the steps that it takes to complete daily activities and to make projects.

•We are learning the names of 3-D figures.

•We celebrated Valentine’s Day by handing our valentines and making valentines for friends and family.

*We will be creating our neighbourhood at school.  Please send in a small box that your child can turn into their own house.  Talk about the features of their house that they could include

*Please note that our classroom can be extremely cold due to an ongoing heating issue.  Please consider dressing your child in multiple layers to allow them to feel comfortable while playing indoors.

How you can support your child’s learning

•Valentines are a great way to practice many skills such as sorting (e.g., How many different ways can you sort your valentines?  What categories did you use), counting (e.g., How many have animals on them?  How many of them have stickers?) and reading and letter recognition (e.g., Can you find the letter “a” on a valentine?  Who is this valentine from?)

Important Information

•We have a child in our class with a severe nut allergy.  (There are also several teachers and students in our school who have nut allergies).  Please ensure that you are sending nut free foods to school.  If your child consumes nuts, peanuts or peanut butter before coming to school, please ensure that they have brushed their teeth and washed their hands and face before coming to school.  “Wow Butter” and peanut butter alternatives will be not be permitted in the classroom.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping school a safe place for all children.
