Notes about our Week

•The children have been busy creating paper chains and decorations for our classroom.

•Tickle (a kindness elf) came to visit our classroom to encourage kindness each day.

•We read “The Gingerbread Man” and attempted to build a way for the gingerbread man to get over the river so he wouldn’t have to use the help of the fox.

•We began building forts in our meeting spot on the Health Valley Trail.

•We have been learning how to recognize quantities quickly without counting.

•We have been using the coloured bells to “read” music and play songs.

How you can support your child’s learning

•Play dice games so your child can become familiar with the dot patterns and quickly recognize the number of dots.

•Count the ornaments or decorations in your house or the lights or decorations on the houses of your neighbours.

•Go for a hike on the Health Valley Trail and ask your child to show you where our meeting spot is.

•Please have your child read their Stinger reader to you each night.  Frequent reading will help your child become familiar with high-frequency words.

•Please remember to send your child’s Library and Stinger Reader bag to school every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so they can participate in book exchanges.

Important Information

•We love volunteers!  If you are interested in volunteering in the classroom, we would love to have a volunteer from 12-1:30 to read and play games with the children.  Please send an email if you are able and make sure that you have a valid police check that has been sent into the school office.

•We have a child in our class with a severe nut allergy.  (There are also several teachers and students in our school who have nut allergies).  Please ensure that you are sending nut free foods to school.  If your child consumes nuts, peanuts or peanut butter before coming to school, please ensure that they have brushed their teeth and washed their hands and face before coming to school.  “Wow Butter” and peanut butter alternatives will be not be permitted in the classroom.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping school a safe place for all children.
