Notes about our Week

•We visited Mrs. Uttley’s class to look at their pumpkin houses and their plans.   We decided that we would like to make our own houses.  Please send in a box that your child can use to design their own small world house (e.g. cereal box, tissue box).

•We painted fall sunsets and used a straw and black paint to make a trees

•We enjoyed our presentation from the Mountsberg Conservation Area.  They brought a Barn owl and a Great-Horned owl.  We were able to view the feathers, wings and feet up close.  We asked many questions and learned a lot about birds of prey!  Ask your child what they learned.

•We compared the size of many objects in the class or toys that we brought from home.  Your child is welcome to bring a toy to school this week that can be used for measurement activities.

•The children continued to make their own haunted houses at the block centre.  We used this interest to create our own trip to a haunted house with mystery boxes to feel.

•We practiced making faces at the play dough centre and described the features that are associated with various emotions.

Thank you to the families that donated tape and glue sticks.  We are very appreciative!

*We are also looking for a solution for a storage problem.  If you have a tall garbage can or wrapping paper holder that you are no longer using, we would love to have it to store some of our outdoor wood pieces in.  Thank you.

•Please remember to send your child’s Library and Stinger Reader bag to school every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so they can participate in book exchanges.

Important Information

•We love volunteers!  If you are interested in volunteering in the classroom, we would love to have a volunteer from 12-1:30 to read and play games with the children.  Please send an email if you are able and make sure that you have a valid police check that has been sent into the school office.

•We have a child in our class with a severe nut allergy.  (There are also several teachers and students in our school who have nut allergies).  Please ensure that you are sending nut free foods to school.  If your child consumes nuts, peanuts or peanut butter before coming to school, please ensure that they have brushed their teeth and washed their hands and face before coming to school.  “Wow Butter” and peanut butter alternatives will be not be permitted in the classroom.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping school a safe place for all children.
