Good Evening Parents! We started our circles unit last week and had our first test. Kids are understanding what formulas to use given a measurement.
We will be focusing on Area next week and using some real life scenarios, radio waves to demonstrate our understanding.

We will also focus on concentric Circles to end our unit on area.
-these types of circles share a common midpoint
-the radius of two concentric circles is equal if both the circles lie on each other
-the annulus is the region bounded by two concentric circles.
-finding the area of the concentric circles.

You should have a general understanding that concentric circles occur naturally, flowers, onions, vegetables; concentric circles in nature include the ripples made in water when a pebble is dropped; the rings on a cross-section of a tree trunk.

The following week will Cylinders and Surface Area!

Cheers…Mrs Verley-Entz
