Canada has recently welcomed 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada (a combination of government sponsored and privately sponsored individuals and families).  Roughly 50% of these newcomers are children, and we are hoping to have approximately 1200 refugees permanently settle in our region.  We are about 80% there as of the writing of this post.  Check out the link below for information pertaining to the resettlement of refugees in the Waterloo Region, including a backgrounder on Syrian refugees, information about community agencies and partners, as well as sections on how to donate, volunteer, offer housing, or sponsor a refugee family in our region.
