Bridge Street remains an open construction zone and Bridgeport P.S. access will be changing over the coming weeks.
We need your help to keep all of our students safe!
Crossing the Street Now – Pedestrians crossing at Woolwich should cross just outside the barricaded areas. In lieu of a Crossing Guard, the contractor has staff available to aid in students’ safe passage across Bridge Street if required. Pedestrians crossing at Bridle should cross on the north side of the intersection with the Crossing Guard.
Drivers – If you drive, please park so you can cross at Bridle Trail instead of Woolwich (see map). The Crossing Guard at Bridle will remain in place throughout the transition.
Crossing the Street After Next Week – The contractor will be installing a new sidewalk on the east side of Bridge Street between Woolwich and Bridle Trail during the week of Nov 7. Once this sidewalk is in place, the contractor will direct pedestrians to use this sidewalk to a crossing location they designate from the east side sidewalk to the school. The sidewalk on the school side of the street will be removed at this time.
Crossing the Street After Construction is Complete – A new pedestrian crossover signal will be permanently activated at the midblock location in front of the school. Depending on weather, this should occur sometime in December. All students should cross at this location as the safest option.
After the signal is activated, construction operations will cease for the winter.
