The first day of April is ‘April Fool’s Day’. It’s origins may lie in a calendar change that happened in the 16th century, when the Gregorian calendar replaced the Julian calendar, which dated to the time of Julius Caesar!
This calendar had an inbuilt error of 1 day every 128 years, due to a miscalculation of the solar year by 11 minutes.
According to the Gregorian calendar, New Year’s Day was in the spring. It was changed to January 1. People who continued to celebrate it in April were called ‘April fools’.

What do you think of when you think of April?
When I think of April it reminds me of:
1. The sun’s heat and the melting snow.
2. The warm weather is a sign of summer.
3. The park where I ride my bike and play soccer with my friends.
But currently all I am thinking of is the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024.

1.Did you know that the our moon (Luna) is drifting away from the Earth every year and eventually we won’t be able to see total solar eclipse from the Earth’s surface.
2. The next total eclipse will happen in August 2044.
It reminds me that when it rains in April,it makes the flowers healthy enough to grow & then in May, the flowers grow & bloom.
On April 10th, it is Eid ul Fitr. It is based on the lunar calendar.
When I think of April I think of spring finally coming in , playing sports with my friends, going to the park, flowers ( and being stung by bees), trees growing and leaves turning green, birds chirping, riding my bike and not having to wear a winter jacket to school anymore! The only bad things about spring are a whole bunch of insects and bug start to come back and it rains a lot so worms will come out. (I actually like walking in the rain.)
