Homework (HW) will be given during the school year but it will not be on a regular basis. Home Reading( HR) is still very important at this age and you may still record the nights of reading in the front of the planner. Children should be reading at a level that is enjoyable and relatively easy. There should not be a major issue with the decoding of words. When you listen to your child read, I ask that you pay particular attention to:

– expression used

– flow and pace of the sentences read out loud

– comprehension of the story, as you ask questions along the way
