On Thursday, Nov. 16th from 2:30-9:05pm, the W-O Music Department is hosting our annual Music-A-Thon at W-O! Music-A-Thon is an evening full of music group rehearsals, games, and food! All music groups have at least one practice scheduled in between all the fun activities that happen that night. We’ll have the school library set up to keep you entertained in between your rehearsals with board and video games, movies, snacks, and a mass event for the whole group. This night is a fantastic opportunity to get to know more people within our W-O Music community while we get ready for our upcoming concerts.

Along with practising for all of our ensembles and meeting people from within our department, this event provides us with the opportunity to help another organization by fundraising for an important cause. The charity we will be raising money for this year is Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. The Humane Society works to advance the welfare of animals in our region. They work to promote the human-animal bond, rescue and protect dogs and cats, improve farm animal welfare, protect wildlife, promote animal-free testing and research, and confront cruelty to animals in all of its forms.

We’d love to see everyone try to fundraise a minimum of twenty-five dollars. The first ten dollars will go towards the W-O Music Department (to help cover the cost of Music-A-Thon), and the rest of the money will go towards supporting the KW Humane Society. If you fundraise the suggested minimum of twenty-five dollars, you will earn a free ticket to Music Awards Night (on June 12th, 2024).  Donations can be made in the form of cash, cheques or through a donation on School Day. Unfortunately we are not able to provide receipts for these donations. All cheques and cash will be accepted the night of Music-A-Thon, and can be written out to the W-O Music Department. 

If you cannot attend or have to leave early, make sure to talk to your group rep(s) or leave a note in the attendance box. And as dinner (pizza) is provided for everyone, if you have dietary restrictions, please let your group rep know as soon as possible. Can’t wait to see you all on Thursday, Dec. 16!
