Dear Families,

Weekly Update June 1 – 5, 2020.

We hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. Here we go – it is June and Round 8 in our virtual classrooms.

For the month of June, we are reviewing some of the HERO traits from the school year. We are calling the initiative Falcon Heroes at Home. Our HERO trait for this week is HOPE. We will share some thoughts and quotes about what HOPE is and build some connections throughout the week.

This week we will finish reading about the adventures of Fenway and Hattie in the Wild. Each chapter has been shared in Classroom. The final chapter will be read live in a Google Meet at 10 o’clock on Friday, June 5th. An invitation will be emailed to students that have returned the online form for Google Meet. The permission form was sent out last Monday. The recording will be posted later in the day. In Writing, we will be working on an assignment writing from a dog’s point of view. The assignment is due on Friday.

We will be starting our Social Studies units this week. We will be learning about Ancient Civilizations for Grade 4 and Early Settlers and Indigenous People for Grade 3.

We appreciate your input from our email asking for feedback on distance learning. Starting this week, there will still be the daily format that students are accustomed to but all the work will be posted at the beginning of each week. We are happy to make these adjustments so that there is more flexibility in completing the learning activities in a way that suits families’ needs.

We have started incorporating some face to face (synchronous) learning using Google Meet. So far, we have used it for one to one assistance.

If you have any questions, please continue to reach out. We are all in this together.
