Friday March 31, Cameron’s Reach for the Top club, or Trivia, sent 12 students to Knox Presbyterian Church, 50 Erb St. W, Waterloo. It is close to the University of Waterloo and Waterloo Public Library. Two teams of six juniors and seniors competed in two separate competitions.

The senior competition consisted of 4 rounds involving 6 schools. Four people from each school’s team compete at a time against a similar team, with 2 individuals from each time waiting nearby during this time.

In Reach for the Top, a reader will ask questions about subjects ranging from science, literature, math, Canadian history, etc. The two competing teams’ eight players must race to press the buzzers and answer the questions within five to ten seconds. Each individual must answer in that set amount of time without any discussion with their teammates.

Some paraphrased questions include: Which city is Pompeii now in? What is the Roman Moon Goddess? Or what is Japan’s national flower?

Cameron’s senior team went against R.C.S.S, W.C.I twice and E.D.S.S., resulting in two wins and two losses (both against W.C.I.) and third place overall.

Despite having competed, Reach for the Top club still operates in room 404 on Thursday’s at lunch and welcomes new members.
