Fall season came to an end earlier this month, and here is a recap of our Cross Country, Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey, Golf, Junior Girls’ Basketball and Open Tennis teams.

Cameron’s Cross Country Team had 46 athletics that came together with energy and enthusiasm. Every athlete of the Cross Country Team showed improvement in their performances starting with season meets to WCSSAA and CWOSSA. Despite the weather conditions at WCSSAA being cold, and snowy-rainy weather, our Gaels stepped it up and many had personal best performances. Juniors Girls pushed themselves to 2nd place overall, only 5 points off first! And placed third place at CWOSSA! The support and leadership shown by our junior and senior members not only helped encourage our new members, but also helped them reach their potential. Congratulations to all runners! And great job to our coaches, Ms. C. Smith, Mrs. L. Quinney, Mr. F. Haig, Mrs. M. Clemens, and Ms. C. Rempel.

Cameron’s Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey Team had a thriving season. Coming in, they were ranked in 13th place and ended the season being ranked 6th. About half of the team had familiar players, this year’s team had a large representation from Grade 12’s. Coaches and returning players knew this year’s season was going to be better than the last by scoring in the first game of the season and continued this throughout the season. The Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey ended the season with a winning record of 3 wins, beating Huron Heights, Forest Heights, and WCI, only 2 losses against Bluevale, and Laurel Heights, and had 2 ties with Southwood and KCI. This allowed the team to play in the WCSSAA quarter finals against Elmira. Amazing job to our coaches, Mrs. J. Crockett, Ms. L. Drekic, and Ms. E. Jewett, and our athletics.

Cameron’s Golf team made it all the way to CWOSSA. Four boys participated in the 2 day WCSSAA tournament at Dundee and Rebel Creek Golf courses. One individual girl participated in the WCSSAA events. Two of our athletes qualified to participate as individuals at CWOSSA. Anupam Chettimada played at Cambridge Golf Club for boys, and Kiera Filiatrault-Campbell went to the Foxwood Golf Club for the girls. Cameron’s Golf team had a great fall season. Great job to our athletes: Anupam Chettimada, Jerry Liu, Jie Woo Park, Shreyash Umamaheswaran, and Kiera Filiatrault-Campbell. And great job to CHCI’s Golf coach, Mr. R. Van Horne.

Cameron’s Junior Girls Basketball team had a successful run this year. The team worked hard and improved over the season and through tournament play. They went 9-1 in the regular season only to lose a heartbreaking quarter final match in the playoffs. Great job to our athletes, and Junior Girls Basketball Coaches, Mrs. S. Mintz, and Ms. A. Wheeler.

Just to start off: CAMERON HEIGHTS’ OPEN TENNIS TEAM ARE TEAM CHAMPIONS!!! They won a lot of points throughout the season. On Friday October 28 at Greystone Racquet Club, Cameron Tennis thrived with the CWOSSA Tennis Championship. They had 3 CWOSSA Championships IN A ROW! Congrats to our gold medalists: Ben Reyes and Mathias Reyes in High School Boys Doubles, Andrei Caragea and Sava Uncianschi in Open Boys Doubles, and Alexia Cuperman and Ayush Malhotra in Open Mixed Doubles. If you know or see any team members, congratulate them on an amazing season! Wish the above names luck as they will compete in the OFSAA Championships in Toronto in June! And great job to CHCI’s Tennis coaches, Mr. J. Herlick, and Mr. M. Ruhnke!
