The Waterloo-Oxford Music Department was pleased to partner with the Ceremonial Band of the Waterloo Regional Police Service to host an evening of music on Monday, February 26.  The concert also featured the music of the Sir Adam Beck and Baden Public School Intermediate Bands, along with the  Waterloo-Oxford Senior Concert Band.

The Waterloo Region Police Band has been partnering with local high schools for almost nine years in an effort to share their love for concert band music, encouraging connections between generations of musicians and helping to raise money for school music programs.  The Police Band director, saxophonist Robin Habermehl, described the concert as one of the band’s favourite events of the year.

Each band played several selections before the Police Band played their feature performance containing a mix of concert band favourites, popular music and jazz from their associate group, Copper Brass.  The evening culminated with a mass performance of Bohemian Rhapsody featuring the musicians from all the bands together.  There were over 175 instrumentalists on stage for this thrilling performance.

The concert raised almost $950 in support of the music programs at Sir Adam Beck and Baden Public Schools.
