Learning skills<\/strong><\/em> will be evaluated throughout the year in the following six categories: Responsibility, Independent Work, <\/span>Organization, <\/span>Initiative, <\/span>Collaboration <\/span>and Self-Regulation.\u00a0 Students will receive an E for excellent (at EVERY opportunity), G for good (generally), S for satisfactory (sometimes), or N for needs improvement (nearly never).<\/em>\u00a0 <\/span>Developing these skills will help maximize overall achievement.\u00a0 Below is a brief explanation of each of the Learning Skills.<\/p>\n

Independent Work<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Do you follow instructions (verbal and written)?<\/li>\n
  • Do you independently monitor, assess, and revise plans to complete tasks?<\/li>\n
  • Do you use your time effectively?<\/li>\n
  • Do you work without disturbing those around you?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n
Responsibility<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Do you fulfill all of your commitments and responsibilities within the learning environment?<\/li>\n
  • Do you complete and submit all class work, homework and assignments according to agreed upon timelines?<\/li>\n
  • Do you take responsibility for and manage your own behaviour?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Organization<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Are you prepared for class (textbook, notebook, pen\/pencil, calculator)?<\/li>\n
  • Do you make and follow a plan\/process for completing work and tasks?<\/li>\n
  • Do you establish priorities and manage your time to complete tasks and achieve goals?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n
Initiative<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Do you look for and act on new ideas and opportunities for learning?<\/li>\n
  • Do you demonstrate the capacity for innovation and a willingness to take risks?<\/li>\n
  • Do you demonstrate curiosity and interest in learning?<\/li>\n
  • Do you approach new tasks with a positive attitude?<\/li>\n
  • Do you make arrangements to get caught up on missed assignments\/ homework?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
