Why take business studies?
Because everyone eventually works for an organization or business!
Business studies should really be called ORGANIZATIONAL studies in my opinion, public sector, private sector, for profit or not-for-profit, all of these organizations are groups of people and that requires management in order to get things done.
Taking courses in business gives one the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA’s) to work and thrive in our collaborative work places:
- Accounting KSAs: bookkeeping, financial, analytical
- Marketing KSAs: promotion, research, pricing
- Management KSAs: motivating, planning, controlling
- Business technology KSAs: word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and communication
To borrow a tag line from a famous credit card advertisement:
“When you graduate from high school…what KSA’s are in your tool belt?”
