Today, we began to learn how to use LONG DIVISION for our calculations. We also learned that each step is like doing a patter of steps: divide, multiply, subtract. The hardest part for us seems to be our division facts. Keep practicing at home please!

The students are learning a variety of ways to determine the answer to multiplication questions. The grade fours are multiplying two-digit by one-digit numbers, while the grade fives are learning to multiply two-digit by two-digit numbers. We will be learning division soon.
January 29-31, 2020
After a few months of learning ways to calculate basic multiplication facts, the Grade 4’s began learning ways to calculate two-digit by one-digit multiplication questions while the Grade 5’s were learning how to calculate two-digit by two-digit multiplication questions.

Today, the students drew their own bar graphs to show the teacher what they remember from last year and what we need to work on (bar graphs – gr. 4/5 & broken-line graphs gr. 5). The students all learned/reviewed what stem-and-leaf plots are and how they are created. We used the date of our birthdays.

We began our Data Management unit with learning some vocabulary for the parts of pictographs and bar graphs. We also went over/reviewed some ways to remember our multiplication by 6 facts.
