Today I introduced the students to counting money.  I encourage you to practise with coins at home (including pennies which are great place holders).  The Grade One expectation is to count coins to 20¢, but many students enjoy going beyond that amount when playing in the class store (which we will set up next week).

Usually, it is best to place the coin of the highest value on the hundreds chart and then place the other coins.  The above example shows… 5, 6, 7, 8¢

This example shows 10, 15, 16¢
