Welcome to the 6A Learning Community at Northlake Wood P.S.!
My name is Mrs. Deborah Morden and I will be teaching 6A this year in Room 22. I look forward to meeting all of you and beginning our learning adventure together!
In an effort to go a little “greener” I am adopting a “paper-lite” philosophy. I am hoping to greatly reduce the amount of paper we use each day in the classroom by transitioning to a digital workspace. Students will be using their WRDSB Google Accounts (GAFE) to complete class work, assignments, and projects throughout the year.
What will “paper-lite” look like for parents?
You will find that most information will be shared electronically via email, twitter and my teacher website. You can expect that some paper will continue to come home, as this is still the expectation for a few of the forms. Most information, however, will be available through electronic communication.
How can you support at home?
One of the most important things you can do as a parent to support your child’s learning is to stay up to date with what’s happening in the classroom. This website is the place to go to stay connected with what is happening.
Please add your email address to the “Get News from this Website” section on the left sidebar. By subscribing, you will receive email notification when information is posted in the “News and Announcement” section of this website.
If you would like a sneak peak into what’s going on inside the classroom, please follow the class twitter account (click on the “follow” button on the twitter feed on the left sidebar).
You also have the option to subscribe to the Calendar. You will be notified of the upcoming class and school events, PD days, holidays, etc.
Students have an “app” in their GAFE accounts called “Google Classroom”. By checking the “Google Classroom” subject folders, you can learn about what’s happening in math class. You will find assignment sheets and due dates, anchor charts, learning goals, success criteria…and so much more. You can access this by having your child login to his/her WRDSB GAFE account. Click here for the link to the login screen.
While I am optimistic that the transition to a more digital learning environment will go smoothly, I am sure there will be a period of adjustment for all of us. If you have any questions or problems along the way, please let me know. Your feedback is welcome and can help improve the process.
Thank you for your support in our learning adventure!
