About Mrs. Fay
Mrs. Fay is in her second year of teaching at Forest Hill Public School and her 17th year of teaching with the Waterloo Region District School Board. Mrs. Fay is teaching Grades 5/6 this year. Her favourite subjects are Mathematics, Reading, and Art, but Mrs. Fay truly enjoys all areas of the curriculum and enjoys being able to dig into different areas with her students as a junior teacher. Mrs. Fay lives on a farm with her husband and children. In her spare time, Mrs. Fay enjoys paddle boarding, her book club, hiking, and yoga. Mrs. Fay enjoys participating in her faith community. Mrs. Fay loves taking photos, everything about autumn, eating pickles, owls, Wonder Woman, and Louise Penny novels. Most of all, she loves her family.
Mrs. Fay teaches because she loves learning and believes that everyone can learn. She believes that teaching is a profession that offers a unique opportunity to facilitate learning, develop self-worth, collaborate, spread kindness, nurture thoughtfulness, develop work ethic, and help support future leaders and citizens. Mrs. Fay supports the We Team, the musical, and the tug-of-war team. She also likes to be a random helper in other parts of school life including intramurals, running club, etc. as she is needed. Mrs. Fay facilitated her first slowchat for students this year called #PaxSlowChat as part of the Global Read Aloud. She presented about her use of Twitter to connect her students with other students and the community at the WRDSB Digital Learning Symposium.
Every fall, Mrs. Fay misses her past year’s class as she looks forward to getting to know her new students. Every year, she hopes she will love them just as much as last year’s students, and every year, she does.
