Below is a message from our Student Teacher, Mr. N!

Hello, my name is Zachery Nieuwesteeg!

I am a teacher candidate with Wilfrid Laurier University and I will be joining your students in Mr. Little’s class! I am writing to you to get you familiar with me and so you know exactly what is going on in the classroom. So here is a little about me: I am originally from Welland, Ontario (which is near Niagara Falls!) and have lived in Waterloo since 2016. I attended Laurier during that time to receive my undergrad and I love it here! I also love history, music, and film – all sorts of culture really! I’ve always wanted to be a teacher and I’m glad I am finally getting the chance to try my hand in a classroom – even in an extraordinary year like this one.

I have been observing and spending time with the class for the past few weeks – they know me as Mr. N (feel free to ask them about me)! Starting this week and leading up to the Christmas break, I will begin dipping my toes into some real teaching and taking on a lesson a day with our class. I will be teaching math specifically with your students. I have been keeping up with how they’re doing so far and I am excited to spend more time with them at the front of the room and taking charge. Mr. Little will be with me the whole time to help me if I need, so the class should be in good hands! I hope you and your students are as excited as I am for this experience and I cannot wait for the next few weeks!
