January has been a productive month here in grade 2. Students have danced into the new year. We have created different dance sequences and shared them with our classmates. We have explored a variety of different dance styles and tried some new dances from Chinese ribbon dancing to step and fiddle dancing.

In Math, students coded with beebots to measure different paths using standard and non-standard measurements. In the last 2 weeks we have explored multiplication and solved some everyday problems that required repeated addition and multiplicative thinking.

In Science, we explored the water cycle and discussed the importance of the fresh water. Students thought about how we can use it wisely and protect it from pollution. We also wrote explanations of how the water cycle works. Students could show you this finished work on their google drives at home.

In Language, students have been editing some sentences for capitals and punctuation. We have also been reading some short novels and completing comprehension questions. Keep up withthe home reading and record what your child is reading daily.

As Valentines day approaches I have sent home a list of student names and we will be celebrating with a short movie and some time to deliver treats and cards. Students can bring their completed Valentines any time I will keep them here in class and have them hand them out during our celebration time.

As the labour situations continue to become complicated. I appreciate your support and understanding as we are all trying to do the best we can with the time and resources we have. I am looking forward to an agreement soon!
Thanks for all your support
