Did you know that newcomer families with children in school are eligible to meet with School Settlement workers, free of charge? Topics that our amazing settlement workers are capable of discussing with families include (but are not limited to):

  • Clubs and after-school activities
  • Connecting with school staff
  • Homework and academic supports
  • Information about parent support groups
  • Conversation circles and ESL classes for parents
  • Referrals to important community resources (food, clothing, shelter, employment, etc.)
  • Rights and responsibilities
  • School registration
  • Youth-related issues
  • Summer camps

Speak to the ESL/ELD Teacher at your child’s school to set up an appointment with a school settlement worker.  Interpretation can be provided if needed.
