The key to sounding great when you play the recorder is practice! Practice the assigned songs daily and if you forget any of the fingering, or want some extra help, take a look at this website:  http://www.wikihow.com/Play-the-Recorder

On the side bar you will see a tab for “Play Along Audio.”  Ask Mrs. Deering for the password to this page and use it to….

  1. Looking at the sheet music, clap and “say” the rhythm (example: ta, ta, ti-ti, ta)
  2. Looking at the sheet music, finger the notes on the recorder (don’t blow yet)
  3. Looking at the sheet music, listen to the full recording (accompaniment + recorder)
  4. Looking at the sheet music, play along at the slow pace (do this at least 3 times)
  5. Looking at the sheet msuic, play along at the fast pace (do this at least 3 times)

Remember that practicing your songs 3 times in a row helps you make faster progress!
