Literature Circles Begin Soon!

In April we will be starting Literature Circles.

In Lit. Circles, your student will be reading a novel with a group of other students. Each week they will be assigned a section of pages to read and, once a week, will be meeting with Mr. Little to discuss what they read. Each week, students in the group will also be responsible for sharing their writing related to their novel — this could be a chapter summary, character study, or some reflection questions they’ve come up with about the section they just read. The writing is assigned a week in advance by Mr. Little.

Students will have at least 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of writing time in class every day in which to work on their Lit. Circle novel.

Students are also expected to be reading at home.

Depending on what group your student is in they will be sharing on a different day of the week.

Below is the schedule for each group.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Group 1 Group 2 Group 3 Group 4 Group 5
Group 6 Group 7

Students are encouraged to read only their section each week and not to read ahead in order to make sharing as a group easier and more meaningful; it wouldn’t be fair of one student in the group had already finished the book when everyone else is only half-way through.

The below information already went home, but here are some useful links in case you’ve lost the handouts:

What Group Am I In?

What Pages Do I Read Each Week?

If you have any questions, as always, ask Mr. Little.
